This is a chicken and egg post. I want to include a link to this years 12 Apps in my Christmas cards. Need to write cards, need the post the 12 Apps post. Arghhhh! 

My Christmas card list is a treasured spreadsheet referencing the people in my life of significant note. A people mind palace of sorts. My family, old friends, new friends, colleagues who have become de facto digital friends, fellow collaborators, network connections, clients, service providers to PCM and more that I can't classify in this moment of compositing this holding post. Some all of the above!

    John looks after the unions industrial interests in Film, TV, Recorded and 'New' Media. He has responsibility for the US member networks too. 

    "Equity beyond the UK and digital shores (Geography and Technology)" is presented to provide an insight into Equity's interests not just geographically away from the UK but in the digital and technological realms too. John's department have headed up the"Stop AI Stealing the Show" campaign and have been responsible for the contractual agreement with Amazon, Netflix and producers of eBooks and games development studios.

  • 8.00pm - Special Guest Speaker - Kathryn Klvana
    | President of SAG-AFTRA Washington Mid-Atlantic Local
    Kathryn, a voice artist and actor, is speaking from experience as a SAG-AFTRA member voting on the SAG Awards, once as a nominating committee member. 

    Kathryn’s voice has been heard on national television and documentaries for National Geographic Explorer, Investigation Discovery, PBS and others. Newsweek.com featured her as “The Voice that Launched 1,000 Campaigns.”

    The SAG AFTRA member involvement in award season sparked interest leading us to wonder if there are lessons to be learnt and benefits to be forwarded to the union from our understanding to encourage and grow engagement within the union branch structure here in the UK.

Trades Unions represented on the committee include the MU, BECTU/ Prospect, Equity, PCS, Unite, Artists Union England, and UCU. 

​Show Culture Some Love

Show Culture Some Love been further developed at successive "Future of the Arts" conferences.

​It has culminated in the drafting of a discussion document: Making Culture Ours (pdf) 
six-point programme:
  1. protect and expand public funding for arts & culture
  2. ensure public funding for arts & culture meets the condition of minimum standards of pay and employment
  3. ensure transparency of any sponsorship in arts & culture and to promote ethical policies in cultural institutions
  4. promote democratic accountability in publicly funded cultural bodies – including investigating corporate interests present on governing bodies
  5. ensure the funding and promote the role of art education in society, including free access to education
  6. tackle inequalities of access to arts & culture and its funding and to develop a socially progressive arts policy
