What are we doing about Theatre Digs?

This motion proposed by the Equity Stagemanagement Committee was passed at an Annual Representatives Conference. Watch this Space.

Touring practitioners have raised the issue of being provided with out-of-date and often confusing ‘digs lists’. 

The Stage Management Committee calls on the Equity Council to encourage the management of accommodation lists provided by producers and theatres.

A Guide for Landlords (on the Equity website and sent to touring venues) could include a standardised template with a checklist of important accommodation offers
e.g. single/double, pets, family home, parking, transport, etc.

Each venue should be encouraged to have an allocated person to maintain the paperwork as well as being the point of contact for both practitioners and landlords.

This would be of benefit to all members who regularly tour and would also help those who are less experienced in deciphering the current accommodation listings.
